And so it begins. Snuggled on the sofa, hot chocolate in hand, Christmas tree glistening and the heart felt Christmas adverts begin to flood the TV.

Everyone has their favourite, from John Lewis to Homebase, Waitrose to Aldi, each year there’s a little bit of competition to spark the christmas joy between which is the favourite. So this year, who wins?

We asked around Park Campus at the University of Gloucestershire, “what’s your favourite Christmas advert this year and why?”, to which we got a range of different responses, stating a clear winner…

“I loved the M&S one this year with Tom Holland voicing Percy Pig, which is just so cute! Recently, M&S has been my favourite.” Journalism student, Sharmaine Wiltshire, 19, tells us with a huge smile.

M&S take another point as Kamilah Nadzrin, studying Film and Tv Production from Malaysia, 23, says “I’ve never seen a Christmas advert, we don’t have them back home. The M&S advert popped up on my Twitter, I was surprised they chose Tom Holland, he’s a great actor, I just think they could’ve chosen someone who fits the role better.” Kamilah tells us from a film student perspective.

When Coca-cola comes on, you know it’s Christmas!

Two wins for M&S, but the competition doesn’t stop there. Becky and Dan, working in the Refectory on campus say “We liked the Aldi advert with Kevin the Carrot!” Becky says. Dan continues, “I like the John Lewis one, but when Coca-Cola comes on, you know it’s Christmas!”

And there we have it. In the words of the Christmas advert winners on Park Campus, M&S, Merry Pigmas! Which Christmas advert pulled at your heartstrings this year?
